Repair of damage to polished wooden table

Post by steve »

I have a large wooden dining table with a high gloss polished finish. I believe it is American and that the finish is some sort of lacquer. Unfortunately the surface has been damaged by a candle holder catching fire and burning off a small area of the varnish. Does anyone know of a french polisher or restorer I could contact to see about a repair?

If it's American it's more likely or not to be a synthetic sprayed finish, not sure that a french polisher would help, but you can ask the question, good luck. :)

Thanks Pato. Yes I think the high gloss finish is a sprayed synthetic lacquer but I thought a french polisher might be able to point me in the direction of someone who could help. If all else fails I will get out my compressor, touch up gun and synthetic car lacquer but this will be a very much last resort.
