We discovered Vimar this year after several years of coming to Cvo, and as previously mentioned found it to be very good value for money, delicious food and friendly service. We ate there several times last year.
We are hoping to come out for Xmas 2013 so it would be great to have Xmas lunch there. :D

Great place for lunch too. 8.50 euros for cover (bread, butter, olives, garlic carrots), drink (beer, wine or soft drink), soup or salad, choice of fish and meat dishes, dessert (the best creme caramel I have tasted), and coffee.

Went there for the first time just before Easter. It was fado night and busy. Food good particularly the potatoes that came with our fish. Will also return but probably on a non fado (which I think is Thurs and Sun)

We recently went to this restaurant for the first time on the recommendation of friends. An excellent meal and extremely competitive prices. Also a really comprehensive wine list with prices several Euros lower that most other places around. Will definitely be going back.

On our last trip to Carvoeiro a few weeks ago we toook the friends who were staying with us to Vimar for dinner.
It was very busy only a few tables left. We mentioned the lunch specials to the English girl who was serving , she looked at us and said that we were too young to join their lunchtime regulars. :D Not that this influenced our tip !!
Certainly good value and consistent.

sadly have to report a bit of a black mark for Vimar on our 2nd visit;

2 of our party had the roast lamb; it looked, cut & tasted like it had been cooked 2 days previously; which of course it might have been as it's on the 'cheap lunch' list, not very nice :(

the former Estrelo do Mar was a bit quiet, but now Joao is rockin' at Vimar :D
but:
patience ist required when the restaurant is busy...
the reason: Joao takes the order for the menue only by himself. the same for the bill..
and he has a new computerized cash register....handling has to be learned

food: great, as usual
service: very kind

cu next year :D

We love Vimar. Been there twice this week and have booked for Thursday Fado to see what it's like.
The complete menu at lunch is now 9euro and includes couvert, starter, main, dessert, coffee and a drink. There is plenty of choice and the food is excellent with good sized portions.
The staff are friendly and atmosphere relaxed. We have tried other 'value lunch' restaurants but so far Vimar is favourite. :D

Visited Vimar recently. Had a great meal with attentive service. I had the roast lamb with mint sauce, not typically portuguese but lovely and tender and tasty. Despite being pretty full the cabinet of puds was just too tempting.
