yes, always split, 'our' solicitor only registered it in my name hence all the IMI is in my name, hence the split. Don't know why they did that because we had to sign a letter in the notarys office giving all our details, ie place of birth, maiden name, etc etc.

hopefully pointersisters will have arrived today.

There are 8 apartments in our block, 3 of which are Portuguese owned, and these 3 never required the services of a financial representative. 4 of the other owners (Irish and UK) have dispensed with our financial representatives. Sanreen and Aylesbury from this forum have dispensed with their FA's. If this is a general indication of whats happening throughout the Algarve, then it looks like the end for this 'industry'. Solicitors will probably continue to offer the service but suspect that over time this too will become the exception.

acording to this scare mongering ALL properties were due to have an increase in their IMI taxes this year.
The Memorandum of Understanding with troika proposed a change in this respect and led to yet another rise: all property owners – regardless of the property’s age and year of evaluation – will now see their IMI tax increase by one decimal point.

Hi Aylesbury,

easiest way is by MB.

Pagamentos > Pagamentos ao Estado > put in your reference number (15 numbers) >press the green key> at this stage you should be able to see the amount due which should corresponde with your bill> press confirm. keep the receipt.

The Escritura determines the ownership which sounds, as you gave tthe above details, as if it is in joint names. The register and hence the Financas only use the first name.
If the Escritura is in joint tenants in common then both parties receive separate demands.

Got mine week before last and paid last week at PO as I happened to be in CVO. Paid last year by MB - easy process, instructions on the bill.We had our revaluation done at the end of last year, and it had been rumoured that the phased increase was not going to happen. This was applied so had less to pay than I calculated. I am pleased to hear that the bills are being received in Ireland and assume UK will be the same, so we can dispense with FA for next year.

Thank you Geriatric, if I understand correctly the property may be jointly owned but Financas only send the bill to the first name on the register (don't know what the register is)

I have a document headed 'Certidao' and included in this document (6 pages) under the heading Compra E Venda there are a number of sections, but I can make out the following: builders details, solicitors details, our details (both our names and nif numbers) price paid and property identification.

"sam"..... I am pleased to hear that the bills are being received in Ireland and assume UK will be the same, so we can dispense with FA for next year
both pointersister and sanreen are delivered by Royal Mail and they received theirs ok.

That is the landregistry details which are available on line or viewed at the
Conservatória do Registo Civil, Predial e Comercial de Lagoa na Lagoa (Algarve)
Serviço Público Conservatória
Rua 25 de Abril, 49
8400-035 Lagoa, Lagoa (Algarve)

From what you say the property is joint OK

I have discovered that there are two types of joint ownership, basically joint ownership and owners in common. It would appear that I fall in the first category hence why only one IMI bill and because it's over €250 pa it's split into two payments.

Property tax done and dusted! Cesar in Santandertotto in Cvo just needed the reference on the bill and transferred the money today. He emailed us a copy of the receipt in a pdf for our records. It was soooooo easy in the end and saved us a lotta cash for fiscal rep. Advise you all to give it a go. :D
