Re: property tax
Mine from Lagoa came last week.
Re: property tax
How much is it ?
Re: property tax
It is slightly down on last year because the rate has gone down from 0.38 to 0.37 but oddly the first instalment instead of being the customary half of the annual total is one third. So less to pay in April but more to pay in September which seems strange as it delays the receipt of revenue by the Finanças.
Re: property tax
Same as Aylesbury, I have changed to my home address in Ireland as well, so awaiting with interest to see if it arrives. Do they post it out or do they email it? I do receive a fair whack of emails from AT but so far none of them relate to property tax. (I can access my profile online but it just shows the previous two IMI instalements and payment dates for them) Is it possible to pay the full bill in April at an MB machine or is the account set up to just take the amount due in April?
Re: property tax
If the total amount for the year is over 500 it is now split into 3 payments I think it is April, Sept and Novembersteve wrote:It is slightly down on last year because the rate has gone down from 0.38 to 0.37 but oddly the first instalment instead of being the customary half of the annual total is one third. Re: property tax
No sign of our bill yet, waiting for email
Re: property tax
Being newbies we have received our first Property Tax bill(s) Is it correct that both joint owners(me and the missus) receive bills for half the total amount due? Also it looks like I can pay at a Multibanco machine-is this the best way of paying? Grateful for any advice
Re: property tax
Yes. Joint owners each receive a separate demand for half of the total due. If you have not got online banking here the multibanco is the next best way of paying. It saves a trip to the Finanças or the Post .
Re: property tax
You can only pay via Multibanco using a Portuguese issued card. UK credit/debit cards do not give you access to all the menus. A convenient alternative is to pay over the counter at any post office where any means of payment should be ok.Also it looks like I can pay at a Multibanco machine-is this the best way of paying?
Re: property tax
arrived by post this morning. as Steve posted slightly down on last year. I got an A4 printout in Lagoa camera last year on how to pay by multibanco so will probably take to a multibano and use this years reference number. If I recall correctly it was straightforward enough, the most difficult part being trying to read the screen in the bright sunshine!
doesn't appear likely that I can pay the full year in April which means that another payment will have to be made in September. I would not have minded paying it all in one go.

Re: property tax
Sorry I had assumed that you had an Electron card from a Portuguese bank when you mentioned paying by Multibanco. As far as I am aware you can only make payments at the CVO Post Office by cash or cheque. This has been the case when in the past I have had to pay for COD items.
Re: property tax
We pay ours at the Multibanco using our Santader Totta debit card., easy peasy.
Re: property tax
Joey, we got ours in the post also. This is the first time we have not paid it through our lawyer so glad it arrived OK. We have got a bill for a full year don't understand why yours is split. Has it always been split?
