Thought I would be the first to say:-
"well what do you think of the new water bills"

There are additional fixed tarif prices on the new bills and the price per unit for the waste has been increased, all leading the our water bills being nearly double what they were before So all in all I don't think much of the new water bills, either layout or bottom line figure.

There is nothing I can do about the way the bill is presented or the various components that make it up.
All I can do is try to use less or store the rain that falls for use in the garden at a later date
Another way is to follow the maxim, " if its brown flush it down, if its yellow let it mellow "

The workings of Lagoa camera confuse me. Despite the fact that I saw the meter being read during my visit in October - first reading since June by all accounts - a quick look at my bank account just now shows the 'usual' 2.01 being deducted in late October. This is the 4th month in a row that there was no usage charages, just standing charge. If they only read the meters occasionallly the stages of charges should be increased by the number of months that they don't read the meters. Every time you move to the next stage I assume you also move to the next stage of the other charges ie water disposal and solid waste disposal (bin collections, which to be fair are first rate on our complex anyway) I know its 5,000 a month for the first stage, think its 5,000 a month for the second stage and 10,000 a month for 3rd stage (that's when it starts to hurt)but if they are not reading/billing monthly and they are not making allowance for that then it's additional charges by stealth.

Not impressed with the new bills. This months bill nearly double last months, yet only 75% of the usage, and yes our meter is read every month.

Let's hope that the money we keep paying to Lagoa camara now actually reaches Aguas do Portugal, because at the moment the camara owe them millions, and have been threatened with legal action which could lead to them having the service suspended, and ultimately consumers being cut off, even though they have paid their money to the camara.

I suspect that they will wear you down, before you do them!!
They just say that is the bill....like it or lump it!!....even if you have an up to date reading of the meter with you.

Have to agree with Bruce, never heard of anyone winning when it comes to water bills, the attitude is 'that is it' if you do not pay you get cut off, simple

After reading this thread i'm now quite glad we will not be on mains water. We have a plot in Monchique and we will have to buy in our water but at least we will be paying for what we use. However, does anyone know how much it costs to have water delivered?

Sheila, we paid about 45 to 50 euro for 9000 litre last year, don't know if that has gone up since then. Guy turned up with a tractor and large bowser.
