and i heard somebody mentioning monarch flights.
Depends also on where you want to get to and when !!
For example if you are booking some time in advance you seem to get the best deals direct with the low cost operators - Monarch to Gatwick/Manchester, MyTravelLite to Birmingham/Manchester, EasyJet to Gatwick/Luton/Stansted?Bristol/E Midlands plus whichever others there are.
This is always assuming its Portugal/UK - if not - different story altogether

I'm sure I've probably written this before in the distant past, so apologies if so!
I always sign up for the airlines email news and offers and go with whoever at the time. If you're lucky like me you can travel to many airports, but I would always go with a provincial airport everytime whenever possible. They're easier all round and usually the flights are on time.
Look at all the obvious sites - easyjet, thomsonfly, bmibaby, flybe, excel, monarch etc. Also lastminute.com, opodo etc. Don't rule out the bigger operators like BA etc, sometimes they have really good prices, but it will mean London airports. TAP (the Portuguese airline) is also one of the good ones.
The national papers have most of the adverts about the special offers, but they are usually a bit later than the email alerts and sometimes only email alerts are used.
Happy hunting!

Try
www.skyscanner.net , this site shows you the best fare on the low cost carriers over a whole month period so if you are flexible you can get some good bargains. Also try
http://www.aerfares.net/v11/index.php similar to the one above. Have a look at
www.avro.com for a good selection of charter fares. (offers on the right of the page).

Another site to try is www.cheapestflights.co.uk - you can still get a flight at around £90.00 early October from Gatwick to Faro. Good luck.

Try www.travelsupermarket.com they seem to search all prices and airlines including Easyjet, Last Minute and Expedia.
Hope this helps.
