Memory foam mattress

Hi everyone,
Thinking of buying memory foam mattress and wondered of anyone can recommend them? How do you get on with them in the hotter weather?

We bought a mattress that had a memory foam topper (or so they said). Its a very comfortable bed, but we sent it over from the UK a year ago. It was not any hotter than any other mattress, but we do have a mattress protector anyway. Better go to a bed shop and try lots of different ones out, that is how we decided on that one. We do not have one like that at home as ours it about 10 years old now.

I tried one and found it very warm so I dumped it, but I can't remember where.

There is an excellent bed centre, The Bed Warehouse, at the Fatacil business centre, it faces onto the N125.

We needed a new bed, and did the rounds of the available bed shops. The best Portuguese one was Conforama at Guia. We found reasonable quality Portuguese beds very expensive, and the memory foam ones not the best quality.

We tried the Bed Warehouse, more or less as the last throw before buying a bed in the UK, and having it shipped out....purely on grounds of quality and cost!!

The Bed Warehouse is a British business, based in Spain, that imports British beds, quite alot of them bankrupt stock.

We got exactly what we wanted, and at a price that was far cheaper than the Portuguese retailers, and without the need to pay to import one.
We were also able to check the prices of the beds at Fatacil against the identical bed in the UK, via the internet.

just back from sleeping on our lovely mattress. yes it's definitely got a memory foam input. (I believe the label). Again I was not too hot, but then it's hardly peak season.

The 'problem' with memory foam is . . . its memory. As you sleep it moulds itself to your body. Now, if you remain in this position all night long - great. But if, like me, you tend to lie on your left, then on your right and then on your back, remaining in any position long enough for the mattress to form a perfect mould of your sleeping body, when you move to a different position it is still moulded to the previous one. It will eventually catch up with you but in the meantime it can be a bit lumpy.

I toss and turn so much at night my memory foam mattress had a nervous breakdown and an identity crisis and is now in therapy.

However, we bought a new mattress from Ma Maison for CVO, which has a memory foam topper on more conventional springs, and it's the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, and doesn't make you hot. In fact, we've been trying to find the brand in the UK but without success to date.

However, we bought a new mattress from Ma Maison for CVO, which has a memory foam topper on more conventional springs, and it's the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, and doesn't make you hot. In fact, we've been trying to find the brand in the UK but without success to date.

That's interesting you bought yours in CVO but I bought mine in a local shop here in Surrey and had it shipped out to CVO. as you have tried both types it sounds like the topper is the answer. Our springs are individual but I cannot recall the make. Why don't you google memory foam topper mattress and maybe you will find the bed of your dreams for the UK too.

Why? are they being chased by the no win no fee solicitors for owners with back ache?

SWMBO says our mattress needs replacing. We went to the Fatacil place and he had a Sealy mattress for €400. In Conforama they had a load of different offerings ranging from €250 - €600 but they all had a fleecy type covering and I wondered if this might make them feel too hot in the summer. Any advice gratefully received.

Our matress is a 'little ' bit hard. Portuguse brand, came supplied with the package. Bed is fine, matress looks and feels pretty good quality, however just a tad too hard. We had a look at that 'outlet' shop in fatacil and the lady there had a good few for sale, all on display on beds as you enter the store. The best quality one was €170 and the only thing putting us off was the thought it might get too hot in summer.

We too are in the market for advice. Matryx's post would appear to answer the question, however open to other opinions.

We have Portuguese mattresses that we also found a bit hard (although you did get a ggod night's sleep). We bought just a memory foam topper and that solved the problem. The one we bought was from Makro UK and was vacuum packed so we were actually able to take out in our luggage. An inexpensive solution that worked for us and as it is just a topper it could easily be removed if it got too hot but that doesn't seem to happen.

Memory toppers are apparently available in 2,3 or 4 inch thicknesses - any comments on which is best ?
