EDP estimated readings

Beware EDP estimated readings - whilst in CVO in early Jan I received a Bill for OVER €500 for electricity since Nov. I saw that it was estimated and so took the actual 3 readings from the meter and took them to the shop in Albuferia (the guy in Lagoa is USELESS). The helpful gal looked at the bills and the readings and cancelled the Bill I received - today. 2 weeks later I get the new bill - €21.01

Thanks for the reminder, we had our year end bill , it was the usual annual statement showing under payments in the summer peak weeks. We pay by DD.
I will check the meter readings when we are back.

I used to phone my readings through which stopped any problems building up and saved time and money going to the EDP shops.

They have never been really high, in fact they had not read the meter for ages and we actually owed them money when they did.
I registered to deal with them on line. I get my bills by email about 2 weeks before they deduct them by direct debt, and when the estimates are too high I send my readings on line.

How do you do it online - never checked this out? I couldnt find an e mail address whe I found the high reading in Jan.

I accept that consumption fluctuates year on year but the rate of price inflation is huge !!!!!!

Wow widge - 4,400 euros for 2012 That's enormous - 366 euros a month for 12 equal months!!! What on earth do you run ?

We have an electric pool heater which accounts for the jump to €2500 in 2007 but other than that I put the increase down to tariff pricing & IVA increases?

I think your house may be bigger than ours (3-bed) as your power charges seem to be higher almost over the entire period with the exception of 2011. We installed a pool heater Q1 2005 and saw a slight increase following that. We also installed air conditioning in three rooms in early 2010 and saw quite a big jump for that year and beyond. The rest, I guess, is down to tariff & VAT increases. Although I would check your 2012 bill as that looks like an excessive increase over 2011. Our figures:

Rampage I'm a little worried.............do you think that we're unusual keeping a record of annual electricity bills ?

Incidentally I track gas, telephone & water too & do monthly trend analysis ............sad old git or what?

Have you considered putting solar panels in ?- it's supposed to save a lot in the long term especially with the sale of any excess electricity.

Thanks for the suggestion Cereza. Yes already have two panels approx 4 metres by 3 metres and during the summer they provide all our domestic hot water.

Well you seem to have all ends covered widge but your bills seem enormous - are you sure a neighbour hasn't connected up to your supply

No but they are both charming & Dutch so I'm sure that's not the cause.

Maybe the maid opens the place up as a night club during the winter whilst we're in UK ??
