Rascals Bar No 1
I would like to write and say...
That myself and friends have had the best time in Carvoeiro.
We thought it would be pretty quite as the town is not as heaving as rocha or the strip and for a group of 22-25 year olds its hard to find some where in the evening to enjoy. Then we found Rascals, With no question it was the best bar in Carvoeiro. Having tried every other bar and reading peoples top bars i find it hard to believe that jail house or havana is apart of the list there empty most nights. Sullys is over rated and tiny and the only other places are round-up or Bote. Rasclas bar was brilliant the music was so good we were happy to know they had rnb and the lastest chart music and house and garage. We met so many people up there everyone is friendly and because of the terrace you get talking to other tables. The cocktails are the best also as they seemed to have such a varied choice and the staff there were brilliant. For groups of Guys and Girls, couples and familys this is the bar to go for a great night out. Forget the others they didnt come close!
Thank You Rascals for making our hoilday!

Yes, what is it about Sullys? I too looked in, had a quick drink and thought "why the high rating and fuss?" There seemed to be too many English-speaking people hogging the bar and it seemed very "cliquish" - not really what we wanted so we left. I'm pleased to say there is a good selection of bars in CVO for all tastes so everyone to their own. When we visit it is nice to join with the locals and meet with people of other nationalities - otherwise you might just as well as stay at your local bar at home!

Funny this, but the BBC series 'Grumpy Old Men' had this as a brief topic on Friday. People wanting fish and chips, english beer, sticking together and all that when they are on a foreign holiday, so our friend Mike is about right, not only Sullys but sadly one or two other establishments in Carvoeiro. However, as he said everyone to his/her own, but we stay clear of those and like he said try to mix with the locals, etc. I suppose that begs the question - what do they think of us, although they are friendly towards us and share a drink and we swap language lessons!

Problem with the seaview is the price of the drinks skyrockets when bars have it (ie. right on the square).
Aside from Rascals you could also go to Charly bar or Tapas Bar on the opposite side of the square, both overlook the square and beach.
Also a great place for a sundowner (falcon covered this one in the nightlife guide a few years back) is the terrace of the bar in the Hotel Almansor, great view and good ambience, not too pricy either.
