Walk 14 January, 2013 : Poco Barreta

A 2 hour level(ish) walk in some lovely countryside, ending at a nice cafe that does a mean tosta mixta!

Driving from CVO to Silves, do NOT go over the bridge but continue up the hill with the Hotel Colina dos Mouros on your left.
After 3.7km, fork left where the road divides, in direction of Algoz.
After a further 2km ( 5.7km from the Silves bridge) you will be in Poco Barreta. Park by station on right at end of village, opposite Cafe Snack-bar Sustelo.
Do NOT go over level crossing.

(For those that know the area, you can go inland from Lagoa and come out at a T junction just past the level crossing : in which case, turn left and park opposite cafe).

Meet at 10.00. Stout trainers or walking boots recommended. Hopefully, sun hats and water as well!

It would be helpful if you could please advise if you are likely to be coming.

Having managed to loose a couple last week, think perhaps we need 3 simple rules to follow:
1. We will have a designated backmarker/sweeper
2. We will try not to straggle too much, and should keep in voice contact with those ahead/behind
3.If you do get lost, listen for 3 blasts on a whistle, and walk towards the sound.

We had 15 for a walk with lovely azure skies, though the wind was a bit fresh in exposed areas....and didn't loose anyone! We welcomed newcomers Peter and Marga...( think i have spelt that right?)
