Tax-Free Pension to encourage 'immigration'

Very simple, you don't pay tax on your pension, but then you have to accept to pay double tax on the car you buy, pay IVA at 23% on everything you buy, accept the worst customer service in Europe, and then accept that as your still a foreigner here, you have no option than to to put up with it.

Faro airport will be overrun with pensioners.

I am here as a legal, voting resident, paying my taxes every year, driving my PT reg car with my PT drivers licence, so I feel I am allowed to be negative towards the fiscal policies of the government of the country I live in, who I pay my taxes to without receiving abuse from you. Not surprisingly they are also receiving extreme vocal dissatisfaction from the indigenous population as well. That is probably why over 120,000 Portuguese have officially emigrated in the past 12 months, but the figures are nearer 250,000 when other nationalities are accounted for. That's a lot of us miserable shites who are not happy with life in Portugal at the moment and who have left.

Strange though, I seem to remember you used to be quite outspoken and negative towards the UK government of the time,just prior to your moving to Carvoeiro for, what was it? a couple of years.

Oh well, I'm off to watch my illegal BskyB programmes, and tomorrow I will drive to work in bright sunshine and make more taxable income for Portugal.

You could try and avoid being the archetypal Brit Abroad and find something positive in your adopted homeland. The Portuguese don't need a whinging Brit to justify their misfortune.

You are quite right and I still am. I have no particular political alliance and I find it difficult to comprehend how the British electorate, time and again vote in total incompetents to run their economy. Others have the same problem - its time an alternative method was tried.

prior to your moving to Carvoeiro for, what was it? a couple of years.

It was 27 months on and off to be precise on a permanent basis - 20+ years as a property owner prior to that. My departure, as you will know, was brought about by a combination of the criminal activity and that played a large part in my decision and the added desire to have easier access to my workplace in the UK and Germany helped me make that decision. I hold no malice towards Portugal or its people - they have the same low-life immigrants that other countries have to tolerate.

My pleasure - I feel it right to give credit to good Portuguese service and workmanship - both of which we received in equal measure from Rui and Cristina. Incidentally, I do hold a UK TV licence as well as paying my Sky subscription.

After two very pleasant weeks here in Carvoeiro, I will be back in the cold and wet UK on Wednesday and in Germany next week - what a wonderful world
