Just came across this on the expat focus forum. Hopefully a rumor with no true substance. Does anybody know if there's any truth to it?

Seem to recall that was a law many years back, not heard of any being fined for it in recent times nor heard any stories about it.
Sounds as though a call to AFPOP is needed for those who might be affected.

If you have an EU photocard driving licence such a change would be against EU rules so I doubt it very much.

Holders of UK lisences if Resident should register their lisence with the Portuguese authorities anyway under current rules.

I'm checking with my lawyer - Ive got a portuguese registered car and a UK licence, never heard of this one and I have been stopped by the GNR 2 years ago and showed them my UK licence in my PT car - never said anything then.

I have a Dutch registered car and a UK driving license since being in the Netherlands for the past 12 years and that's been no problem here. Portugal is in the EU so they can't lay that one on us surely?
