Exterminators?
Exterminators?
Hi all,
Another question for you. We have had a massive ant invasion this year and are having a hard time keeping it under control. Any recs on management or exterminators? Also, it looks like we have wood worm.
So, any recs on that as well? We thought we had taken care of it. When we bought the house, much of the furniture had the issue and we tossed all of it out.

Re: Exterminators?
I just got some logs from the man by Intermarche and they were full of wormholes. The logs are stored outside and I'll make sure they go straight from the pile into the fire.
Re: Exterminators?
we've been using the old ant powder for years, it comes in 2 coloured tubes, we've found the blue one best, they're available anywhere, think we bought in Intermarche; trace the ants back to their source & puff some there, they'll be gone in 20 minutes, do the same if they appear somewhere else, won't be long before you see the last of themtraveler wrote:Hi all,

Thanks, Sunman. I will look for that powder. We think we have a nest under the house.
Laserblazer, that is smart, just in case.

Re: Exterminators?
AFAIK the holes are cause by the wood worm leaving, but I too would not store such wood in the house just in case. I burn wood here in Ireland in the winter but would never take it indoors until I was ready to burn it - just in case.

Re: Exterminators?
I have a large basement in my house here in London which is never used. Two years ago the ants came in with a vengence, I bought some ant killer powder as a temporary measure until I thought about whom to contact. I drenched them in HUGE quantites and it solved the problem! Never had a problem since! Of course huge doses of white powder in the basement and on the basement level patio looks very unslightly for a week or so but it did the trick!
Good luck in eliminating this problem.
