Depends on the Operating System but for XP (approximately):

Control Panel - Network Connections - Wireless Network Connection (or similar) - Right click on this and select "Properties". Select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and press the Properties button. Tada!!

I''ve noticed that in the past week when I am on this (and one other forum) that when I switch from one topic to another that I have problems loading the page. Don't understand the problem as the internet is working fine ie if I open a new site it pops up immediately and I can open as many as I like without any problems. But on this forum and the other one I am definitely having a problem. anyone have any idea what's causing the problem? Kaspersky is internet security and has been for last 3 years with no problems. something has obviously changed in the past week.

Edited: Does this site use something called activeX?

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion. The engineer came and replaced the hub as it had a fault. Thanks anyway, all seems to be working fine now.

tried Chrome. worked for a few posts then 'oops - google could not connect' etc. while this was happening I opened 3 other tabs, ryanair (no summer schedule yet) easyjet (up to 16th june only, and aer lingus (usual 330 days). all 3 happily working away but still no connection to the forum. My usual browser is Firefox so problem is on both browsers. problem exactly the same on http://www.askaboutmoney.com forum. don't understand it but it appears to only manifest itself on forums. :?

googled this and quite a few others were having the same problem. internet not disconnecting in my case - more a ' time out' problem. in the end just rang vodafone (ok should have done that in the first place  )and while they were slightly puzzled by the problem said they would reset and upgrade the modem their end, and see if that would solve the problem. Happy to say problem appears to be sorted.

I don't know where you are (UK or Algarve) but I had a similar problem most of yesterday. A page would load 19/20 and that last little bit took ages, if at all. I am with Virgin Broadband and it was 'repair works' that caused the problem.

Today, like you, I can announce the "problem appears to be sorted." :D

Vodafone Ireland, Michael. I got through to their technical staff and the lady I was speaking to said I was on (version/system/release?) 15 and would upgrade me to 18. advised me to try another computer using the same modem and if the problem still remained then it was a Vodafone problem and to call them again. Problem solved. Glad that you too are back to normal. And Rosaleen 17 is also back to normal. Happy days. (I just use a notebook in Portugal with a pay as you go dongle)
