I'd say they were cruel bringing them from the sunshine to the mudflats of GB, leave them where they are for god's sake.

What a nice update!

Pato, my PT street dog may agree with you. He has been to the cold climes as well and hates them. But a warm bed, loving hands and regular meals trumps the sun!
