Euro/pound exchange rate in town

Post by destroyer »

Would anyone be able to tell me what rate is available in town at present, changing Sterling notes (as opposed to travellers' cheques) into Euros? Thanks.

Should also have asked, do the Cambios change largish sums - I'm thinking maybe £3,000? Or would this be in breach of any sort of money laundering regulations?
Cheers.

Why not try one of the banks, given 24hours notice I am sure they would be able to change such a large amount for cash.
We certainly have to give our bank reasons for transferring currency as part of anti money laundering regulations.

For £3000 contact Premier FX at info@premfx.com or phone 00351 289 358 511 and ask for Peter Rexstrew - rate today 1.24 with no commisssion.

Tell him roy4eyes recommended you and I get my 'Brownie Points' !!

Thank you both. Roy, as I don't have a Portuguese bank account PremFX can't assist. As I have to have the money the day I arrive (or my daughter doesn't get married!) I've opted to get the cash here. Thomson did me 1.225 as a "large purchase" deal.
Helpful input and much appreciated.

Just take it to sanatnder half way up restaurant hill and change it at the counter - they will give you the rate less ~.7% and charge around €7 for any amount - they will change up to 5k without notice
