Arriving Friday!!!
Hello!
I'll be having a week in Carvoeiro from this Friday. There will be a group of 10 of us and we are staying in a hopefully large villa on the Quinta do Paraiso complex.
We are all in our late 20's and really looking forward to a great week.
I have picked up loads of info from this sight over the last few months but was just wondering if there is anything that any of you might recommend for our week in the Algarve. Although we'll be mostly chilling by the pool we are looking for a few things to do. I've got 'The Big one' in mind and also a day out for the lads Big game fishing, even though we are not experienced fishers - hope this is ok. Any info on this would be great. I tried to get onto the big game fishing web site on here but it's not working. Also best shopping for the ladies?
Any ideas? I'm sure we'll find plenty when we arrive but a few ideas beforehand will be great.
3 days to go! So excited!!
Look out for us one night next week. We're out in 70's!!!!!

Fishing
There are a couple of boats operating out of Portimao. One is owned by an Englishman and looks as if it is a converted lifeboat from the Titanic. The others are owned by a Dutchman who must have worked in a sardine canning factory the way he packs people on board. Sure they have photographs of big fish they have caught but one of the successful fishermen looks suspiciously like Hemingway. Be careful. This question has been raised before and got negative respones from others besides me.
If you do a word search through the forum you'll find there is a guy who does 'ordinary' fishing and he seems a good guy who knows his way around
Have fun

Don't mean to gloat (okay I do then!)
Arriving Saturday for a week, and can't wait.
Re the big game fishing, I'm afraid that we have been warned off that on previous visits, and there seems a lot of people who back it up.
Chill out, enjoy the beaches, try and get off onto the beaten track
Have a great time, I know I will

Well they ARE out there - some guy caught a 335 kilo swordfish last week!
It is just a matter of finding 'em I guess

Try Jonn Bates at www.tightlines-portugal.com. He comes highly recommended. So much so that I'm going to use him this September
