You don't, you have two options.
A. Do not travel on the A22, therefore no tolls.
B. Get some one to pay it for you two days after you leave.

Re: Tolls on the A22
There is a third option which I have posted about here but it costs not less than 37,50€ for that return journey to the airport if that will be the only time it gets used. If you are a regular visitor it is more useful (and economical). Acquiring one from a post office will take longer than just paying for existing tolls but could be done at the same time.

Bob, you forgot the third option:logicbob wrote: You don't, you have two options.

Go to the airport two days before your flight, drop off your hire car, camp out, then pay at the post office in the airport before you fly.

That's what happens when you retire, you forget the third option.
Re: Tolls on the A22
or: get a really cheap flight, run through the airport, pay the tolls and run back through the airport and get the return home. Simples.

I thought of that, but the fine would be cheaper than even the cheapest flightjoeysoap wrote:or: get a really cheap flight, run through the airport, pay the tolls and run back through the airport and get the return home. Simples.

Re: Tolls on the A22
Flew back last Thursday, asked the villa management company to pay my tolls for me today. All paid up so hopefully I do not have to worry about a fine later on. Thank you Kalkbrenner.

No it was all part of the service they offer.

Surprise surprise:
The government has admitted for the first time since introducing tolls on the Algarve’s A22 that the system it uses could be flawed
From Portugal News

Re: Tolls on the A22
I spoke to someone yesterday, who said that he cant be arsed to go looking for the post office, and he wont be paying these tolls if the Portuguese cant sort their act out, and create a sensible user friendly means of paying.
Maybe an irresponsible attitude....but according to my friend who runs a car hire company over at Pera, that is an attitude they expect to encounter alot this year

So, what does your friend give as the reason for not fitting transponders, as that would make payment easy for everyone?Bruce Wallis wrote:...but according to my friend who runs a car hire company over at Pera, that is an attitude they expect to encounter alot this year
