Broadband

Post by jonboy »

I currently pay PT for my basic landline and need to install a braodband wireless connection...

1)Is PT service ok for BB and do they charge for supply of router and connection etc?
2) I hear MEO is also very good ... can I switch to MEO from PT without too much trouble..?
3) Should I choose to keep PT for now and then switch to MEO or ANO ISP later what are the contract lengths and notice periods?

Thnx

Different companies keep having various promotions.
You just need to shop around.
SAPO/Portugal Telecom seem fine.
Contracts seem to be 12 months.

What you do need to be aware of is that these special promotions end after 12 months, and you can get put on their most expensive rate, so you will need to keep an eye on this, and go back and get yourself put on the new promotion tarif for the next 12 months.

Thanks Bruce....

Can anyone give any cost indications plse? I pay around euro 14 per month for my line rental and a small amount of calls. Where do I go to enquire about getting PT to enable broadband.. Do they need to come in or is it UK they send a router and it is self install...

thnx

PT charge me line rental €15.57 per month & Internet Sapo broadband €33.89 per month, both figures include IVA @ 23%.

The Sapo router provided by PT is OK & you can self install. They have a good english speaking helpline.

I am on the same as you Widge, however unless you are getting extremely high download speed, which I doubt, you are paying far too much for your Broadband. Do the Sapo test. Just type in to your Browser qos.sapo.pt. If you don't have Java on your computer, you will be requested to download the programme, not a problem. Should it be less than 2mgb download speed you should only be paying around 20 Euros. They caught me on this when I first had Sapo Broadband and overcharged me for two years. When I requested a refund I received the Shrug.
