given the choice of parking in an empty/isolated car park
I suspect anyone trying to enter the used car lots on the 125 would soon come face to face with cão dos baskervilles :)

:? Thankyou to all for your responses. (OUCH!!! It sounds as if I have touched a nerve with some)
All I say is please do not tar all of us with the same brush. It would have been easy for me to have left the MH outside the house. But I believe myself to be considerate and mindful of my neighbours.
Would it be unwise of me to suggest that most of us may help the local economy during our visits and then through sites like this we pass our experience on to others who may do the same.
Thanks again for all the positive resposes

Melvyn you are absolutely right to ask, you asked a polite question and deserve a useful answer....you have quickly learned that there are too many negative posters on here with clearly too much time on their hands viewing the world as the half empty glass....and not only negative on this topic but 90% of what they post....Im glad they dont live next to us!

I hope you can salvage some useful points from those who contributed positively :D

Yes they would. They'd read the bit that says there are no wild campers and think that's the place for me. Motorhome owners will read the bit about narrow streets and be grateful for the warning. :)

There is nothing negative about not liking freeloading spongers who are a blot on the landscape. You may have missed the bits where we offered suggestions?

implying everyone with a motorhome is of the same ilk and the town is full of freeloadres when the chap asks a polite question for me is looking at the negative side...read the posts through and other threads where those in question have contributed and you can spot who is the best candidate for Mayor of Carvoeiro.... :D :D

I agree a polite question was asked about parking his motorhome and there is obviously no problem with that.

However there is a wider issue regarding the uncontrolled " Free Camping " that is causing concern disruption and damage to many parts of the Algarve.

Those who do not think that this is problem would think differently if Carvoeiro's car parks had up to a 100 camper vans parked up for weeks at a time with no facilities for waste disposal etc.

Well put it under a separate heading, then moan away to your heart's content

" Or a 100 campervans in the sticks near Algoz "

I think that there would be a different response then.

Don't know if anyone has givien you this link: Portuguese Campsites

Seems to be a list of areas you can camp or park your vehicle - may be helpful of you contacted some and see if they could advise you.

I am offering one guy a place to park his van, which is all he asked for in the first place. He did not ask for the forum's views on the rights and wrongs of camper-vanning.

If you cant help, why comment at all?

Firstly aitch, if you have offered space for the OP, then good for you. I hope it works out for both of you. However, the slight deviation was a dig at the sponging so and soes, who park up for the winter, making the place look untidy and possibly helping themselves to local resources that have been paid for by the taxpayer. It was pointed out that we were sure the OP was not one of these, as he said, he felt he had a responsibility not to leave his van on the road. It was you who started to have a go at other members and making this far uglier than it needed to be.

Anyway, I've started a new thread viewtopic.php?f=27&t=22663.

I started nothing, I merely commented on what had gone before. Anyway, I neither have the time, nor the inclination to enter into one of the forum's pathetic slanging matches
