God!!!! I remember that place!!!

I went to a wedding there about 30 years ago.

Its a mock gothic pile just near Droitwich, or Walsall isn't it???

Droitwich, our bedroom window looks out on it. We get some great firework shows. It's in the style of a French chateau, hence the name. All of the staff were Eastern European but the service was reminiscent of when I used to stay at Woodcote Park.

Also know it very well ,, can,t even think of how many times I have driven past it or had lunch there.

Its a sad story apparently it was built by one of the Droitwich salt millionaires for his young french wife to replicate her home in France.
She was unhappy there left him and went back home.

True or not but thats the local story ?

That's one story. Another is that she wouldn't marry him because she didn't want to leave France. So he built the Chateau for her. She still spent much of her time in France but it was amicable. Her husband, John Corbett, made his money from the salt industry but he didn't mind spending it on good causes. The hotel has been in receivership for sometime.
