Re: Carvoeiro Person of the Year
If this Libbbe is a man, as it is suggested here, better to give him a gift voucher rather than chocolates and flowers even though it is a very magnanimous gesture!

Re: Carvoeiro Person of the Year
Libbe (or Libbre) is a big jovial Dutchman, who is responsible for keeping diners entertained and happy. Harry is missed but the food is as good as ever, and the atmosphere the same. Overall I would say this is the busiest restaurant in Carvoeio. Last January I walked up restaurant hill (to build up an appitite
before going to Happys. I counted the diners in ALL the other restaurants which were open that particular evening. Happys had more than all the others combined, would not have been hard as it was January but just an indication of how popular this restaurant is. Having said that the lady in the Post Office was a worthy opponent.

Well said joey. I don't know or really care how his name is spelt but I am sure that he will enjoy the prize. He may not be everyone's cup of tea but I would say that he has more friends than enemies as seen by this poll.

Joey, you certainly put him on the CVO map now! He is likely to gets extra diners to his establishment now. When you see him: remind him!joeysoap wrote:Libbe (or Libbre) is a big jovial Dutchman, who is responsible for keeping diners entertained and happy. Re: Carvoeiro Person of the Year
We should ask Jeremy to draw up a certificate, frame it and present it to the winner to hang in his Restaurant or whatever, we could then make the selection every year. How about that? See! I'm not always negative, who knows maybe next year we could present it to the South African in the paper shop, he did smile at me once last year.

He's a miserable bugger but I got a Happy New Year this year - after lavishly spending €12 in there on a birthday card and a magazinepato wrote:he did smile at me once last year

Re: Carvoeiro Person of the Year
Libba is definitely a worthy winner. He is the face of Happy's with the happy face
We always try to visit his place at least once every time we are in Carvoeiro, which is several times a year. The craic is always guaranteed especially if you are celebrating a special occasion. Well done Libba
Re: Carvoeiro Person of the Year
He is extremely well established already and turns away more customers due to being fully booked than some restaurants could even hope to get in.James Faro wrote:Joey, you certainly put him on the CVO map now! I am sure he would appreciate pato's idea of a certificate much more than chocs and flowers
Re: Carvoeiro Person of the Year
I agree, I am sure Libbre would treasure a certificate more than flowers or chocs.
I am over in a couple of weeks and can't wait to take the mickey!!!!

Stumbled accross this restaurant on a visit to Carvoeiro. Place was full to door with happy customers. Mr ' Happy' himself in fine form joking, laughing and in general entertaining customers but don't be mislead, ably assisted by Harry he is in full command of a very good restaurant, serving good food at reasonable prices. I have eaten at this... More
LOL: I first posted on Tripadvisor a few years ago about Happys and watched as he went slowly but steadily up the ratings until he actually was rated No 1, see he has now slipped all the way back to Number 3
and yes cereza it is almost impossible to get out of Happys without being handed a bottle of port at the end of a meal.
Re: Carvoeiro Person of the Year
I voted for Libbe but I hadn't then met the lady in the post office. Can I change my mind, she's much more attractive than him! Very good reason to pay one's road toll charges.
Re: Carvoeiro Person of the Year
Well Dennis your switch would make the Post Office lady the winner and I'm sure that nobody would oppose that - even Liber himself
Re: Carvoeiro Person of the Year
Wow 39 people voting out of 3 million visitors a year. How powerful are you people with your prizes and certificates. !!!!!
