Long term car rental

Post by Guest »

Hi
We are looking for longer term car hire ie between 4 - 12 weeks in the Algarve. We have looked at the return cost of driving down from the UK and with overnight stops etc makes it really expensive.

Also read some posts on buying a car, but we still have to get to an from the air port and have it maintained etc. So in balance perhaps it is cheaper to hire.

Can anyone recommend a company who hires cars on longer term on good rates please?
email, website or telphone number would be greatly appreciated as we are currently in the UK

WE have had one quote from the car hire company we normally use and they are very expensive. Obviously either do not need or want the buisness

Any suggestions appreciated
Thanks

Hi Gerry

Had a look on the site got a quote for 3 months March to June at it was over 1800 euros!!

I then thought I would telephone him or send him an email, but I dont know wether I am just having a bit of a blonde moment, but I cannot see any contact details other than this website and the guys name.

Probably staring right at me, but I concede defeat. Any clues, I used to be good at eye spy :P

Thankyou
Kind Regards
Piglet

Hey Piglet,
See the menu at the top of this page. Far right, where it says "contact", there's an email link to webmaster. Thats Steen, but I don't think he works over the weekend.

Hi Ho Piglet

We alwys use Zitauto who meet you at the airport. We I am pretty sure that in the spring you can get a punit/clio size car for well under 100 euros per week. You need to speak to Nora who is the manager. tel 00351 289315559 or zitauto@clix.pt

Its obviously all about supply and demand with the car hire companies,
Piglet.
I find that I have to shop around each time, although for the past four times we have used YOR car hire, but this time they were too expensive.
There doesn't seem to be any discounts for loyalty with most of the hire firms, (although I know Steen does give one) but as we rent our property out, we usually recommend certain companies so they do get a lot of business through us, but it doesn't seem to matter to them.

Long tem hire

Yep, I agree Tricky...no loyalty points. Perhaps we ought to suggest it.
Also a recommendation scheme....ie points if you recommend anyone and they use the company.

Still at this rate we will end up driving down, another option we were considering or even buying a car. Trouble is when we buy one I want to buy a tank.

Most Car hire firms right now charge Under 100 Euro per week.....I hire cars all the time from many suppliers..never a problem..so budget 400 per month and youll be fine
