Re: Tolls on the A22
Left QdP at 7.25am yesterday and was in the P4 carpark at 8.05am but that was early new year's day and apart from the police, little traffic about. So we don't need to worry about paying any tolls.
Re: Tolls on the A22
Arriving last friday, the A22 looked empty from the air!
It took about an hour on the N125 to Carvoeiro at 1100, but there did seem to be a lot of " young ladies" trying to hitch a lift.....lot more orange sellers too !
I agree with Michael, at least as far as coming out and travelling around goes, but Mr Easyjet won't wait if we are stuck in 125 jams on the way back, which will get a lot worse in the summer. In fact, the N125 at Lagoa was very congested at 5pm yesterday.

No, not as far as I can see. Apart from 2011 to 2012.

I heard they are changing the toll system for car hire from April. Everyone will pay a small premium (.60) per day and the hire car company then pay the government.

Re: Tolls on the A22
Having recently (apart from Faro/Village) avoided the tolls for 16 days I aren't too keen on forking out to pay for others' use of the A22. My single encounter cost me just €3.26ish whereas the one-size-fits-all comes to €9.60!LICY wrote:...I heard they are changing the toll system for car hire from April. Re: Tolls on the A22
Aw shucks MC. In the UK, I do about 2,000 miles pa in my car. My neighbour who has the same car is on the road every day and clocks up 50,000 miles pa. We both pay the same annual road tax.
With simplicity one gets anomalies, and there are probably thousands of other examples.
Just think of it as your contribution to the Portuguese bail out

I still say they should have just upped fuel tax, so much less complicated.

Re: Tolls on the A22
That seems like the best solution for the car rental companies.
Re: Tolls on the A22
not bad by Portuguese standards, about 6 months to introduce a simple method which everyone understands (even if not everyone appears to be happy with)LICY wrote:joeysoap wrote:logicbob wrote:No, not as far as I can see. Apart from 2011 to 2012.![]()

Re: Tolls on the A22
Its not 6 months, joeysoap. If you look back, the tolls were due to be introduced in April 2010 - that will be 12 months
