Hi,
Can anybody give me advice on the installation of pool heating ie average cost for a 10m x 4m pool plus cover.
Any good installers.

Depends on the type of heating you buy.
An old fashioned "electric kettle" type can cost alot of money....I've heard figures of 50 euros a week.
We have a heat exchanger, which basically extracts the heat from the outside air temp.
We havent got any accurate operating figures yet, but the installer assured us that it is about 1 euro a day.
You do need to buy a good quality cover though.
Initial installation cost, about 5K

The use of electric pool heaters (heat siphons) is prohibitive - as BW says €50/week is common and I cant see how they justify it. The air/air heat exchanger is fine but not very good when it's not a warm day
The most efficient systems are solar matts which absorb the heat from the sun and pass it direct into the water from your pump - there are several available and you can find them under solar swimming pool hetars on google.
For a 40 m2 pool you will need approx 20+m2 of solar mats - a kit would consist of strips of 6m x 1.2m (7.2m2) so 3 sets would do it - depends where you get them from but ~ £300-400 each + shipping (£50 by algarve removals if you get it delivered to them)! you then need to install on a flat or sloping roof, but its an easy job, then "break" into your outlet pump line and route to/from the mats. If you get someone to do it it will probably be €2-300.
Running cost is nil and you get 5-8C temp rise cf ambient. In May-Oct, providing the sun is out you will easily get 29C+ - it can get too hot during july/aug and you can by-pass the panels.
A night cover is really necessary in the early/late months, otherwise the heat you get in the day gets lost at night. It also stops the sand and leaves getting in. I bought a cover from a uk web site for ~£300 and again shipped with algarve removals.
So total cost is less than £2k - however the prices that are charged in portugal can be lot higher!
