Car Park 4 Faro Airport

I have been told that Car park 4 will close on the 19th November & the new car park for collecting and returning hire cars from the companies that currently use CP4 will be the new car park on the island, opposite the petrol station. Apparently the car hire companies currently using CP4 don't yet know the layout, ie. traffic flow routes or where their 'office' will be if they get one, all very much in the air. Does any one else know anything about these changes.

Start of Phase 3 of the Car Parks, New Access Roads, Curbsides and Relandscaping Project
Faro Airport will be starting Phase 3 of the Car Parks, New Access Roads, Curbsides and Relandscaping Project, on Wednesday, 19 October.
To reduce the functional impacts of this stage of the project, the expected duration of which is 4 months, the areas to be gradually involved are described in general terms as follows:

Car parks– New Locations of the Car Parks and their names
- The current P3 renamed P0. | Starting 01 Nov.
- Relocation of the current P4 (Contract Car Park) at the Airport entrance. | Starting 01 Nov.
- Opening of new Car Park P3, to the north of the Car Rental area. | Starting 01 Nov.

Accesses and Roads – New Roundabout, New pedestrian accesses
- Opening of the new access, providing a route to return to the Air Terminal without having to take the Roundabout. | Envisaged for 24 Oct.
- Partial opening of new road, located east of the new Car Park P4. | Envisaged for 24 Oct.
- Construction of a new road, located south of the Car Rental area. | From 19 Oct.
- Construction of the new Roundabout and its roads, on Rua Egas Moniz. | From 19 Oct.

Car Rental – New pedestrian accesses
- Construction of the new pedestrian access to the Car Rental area from the Air Terminal. | From 19 Oct.

More detailed information on the alterations to be made in this phase of the project can be found in the alteration plans. All the alterations described above will be duly signposted to minimise any impact on the normal operation of the Airport.

Work on the car park looks almost finished and given the events of this week I would not be surprised to see it put to use earlier.
We do not have to use the carpark hut with its queues etc , hopefully those companies that still use the airport cafe will still be able to do so.

When I picked up my car on Friday 28th I was told that the changeover to the new location of P4 will occur on 9th November but I will be returning my car on the 8th, so it doesn't matter to me.

After a slight detour into the taxi park, I found P4 ok and it wasn't any worse than before getting across to the teminal via the short stay.

The old P4 car park was still in use today Friday 4th but the new one now looks finished.

CP4 open as usual this morning, departures was also operating as normal, obvioulsy the lower number of flights is helping. Arrivals still bussed to the " tent " by CP6.

New car park open this morning, 1st thing you see on your left as you enter the airport from the roundabout. Very convenient for arrivals & departures so quite an improvement.
