FARO AIRPORT CLOSED
Re: FARO AIRPORT CLOSED
We are not reguar buyers of the ALGARVE RESIDENT but as we had first hand experience of the events of monday morning out of interest we bought a copy just to see what it reported.
There was the usual collection of misinformation and half truths, did they actually send someone there as soon as the events were known ?
There was a letter from an understandably upset traveller caught up in the chaos but there was no explanation of what actually happened.
Of course everthing had to be shut down, planes had to be checked yet despite this flights started after 3 hrs. My wife was on the Bristol Ryan air flight which left " full " at 10,00am. Much of the confusion was due to passengers on flights which had not been called crowding the security area and stopping those who were flying from getting through.
I get the impression that many would have been happier to have spent their time dodging flying sheets of metal just so that they could buy their cheap fags and booze.
We can add the ficticious " 10 feet near miss " also reported by this paper which has yet to be confirmed by any airline or regulatory authority.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE RESIDENT, YOU HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO GET THE FACTS RIGHT BEFORE YOU GO TO PRESS, SECOND HAND REPORTS AND OPINIONS ARE NOT GOOD REPORTING.

We arrived at the airport at 9am this morning and I have to say they have done a good job in getting it up and running again. The only thing was that there was no cafe facilities in the main hall and nothing to indicate that Costa Coffee was open airside.

Well done Laser, the typical British wartime spirit, the F'n place is demolished and all you're worried about is a cup of tea. Business as usual eh!laserblazer wrote:We arrived at the airport at 9am this morning and I have to say they have done a good job in getting it up and running again. Good to hear airport coping with departures. Postings on peoples' experiences are very helpful to those of us who are travelling in near future. Saturday for us, probably one of the first flights out which hopefully means few folk around airport. Keeping an eye on returning hire car to car park 4 (Home page very helpful!!)

We came back thurs 17th and basically no probs - they've done a good job in the repair. Cafe upstairs is still closed.
Re: FARO AIRPORT CLOSED
In relation to car hire I go through travel rent and would usually go to the kiosk in the car park around isle C. I have seen the map for algafve driver. Is that the same for travel rent? Any more news on tolls?
Re: FARO AIRPORT CLOSED
Yes. The new P4 entrance is first on the left once you come off the roundabout entering the airport. So on foot when arriving it's exit terminal & turn left past departures to the far end of the terminal, cross the road & the new kiosk is in P4.

Is there a crossing point where you cross the road?
