I will be coming to CVO in August, and have been told to visit a bar named the Jailhouse. Has anyone got any info on the bar please.

I wouldnt go back to the jailhouse even if you paid me to.
A 55 year old man who thinks hes Eric Clapton on the guitar, who cant sing..no thank you!
I regually visit Cavoeiro and stay in a wonderfull Villa called Pinta with views over the local Pestana golf course.
I recomend to go to Mungos Bar when live music is on.

without doubt the Jailhouse is the best night out for music in cvo anyone who dosent think so must have been born when all the manufactured and i say this loosely (bands) first started to cover all the good music that can be heard in the Jailhouse nightly. Keep it up Bobby and friends ill be back with all my mates as often as possible.

Those pics from that web page from above are very old!
We reluctantly went last week while on holiday to check it out, and im affraid to say that like bikergirl says its a total waste of time.

The man thinks hes Mick Jagger!

I must also comment on the really bad jokes and punsh lines.
My daughter was not at all happy to be there, he was making un polite comments and suggestions towards her.

So please think long and hard about going there.

P.s He cant sing and the music is sh*t

aww come on guys, the Jailhouse IS fun and so is Mungos and the Karaoke at the Roundup Saloon. Sure its not worldclass entertainment, but for a night out while you are on holiday they are great places. Flic Flac also does live music with Raffa, so if its not to your tastes then I am sure somebody else may enjoy it. No need to slag it off, just because you might be a reggae fan or an e-taking raver.

Music is personal, so go out and have a good time, no need to be cool here. 8)

Agree totally with you Falcon - its fun and friendly and while NOT catering particularly for teens' tastes (thank God!), he has a pretty wide repertoire.

This sounds to me like you went there all tooled up with an attitude, determined not to enjoy yourselves.

First time I went to Jailhouse, we found ourselves adjacent a group of drunken men (Scottish, if I remember correctly, but thats quite irrelevent). The group were loud and not listening to the music. One of their party was well gone and kept falling off his chair onto our table and spilling our drinks. Dave, being unable to get his audience interested was himself bored and stared at the ceiling.

We left feeling "What a dump"

Passing by a few weeks later, I popped in to find the dance floor buzzing, everyone dancing with everyone else. I joined a table of 4 mixed nationalities which made for really interesting conversation and a wild mix of dance partners.

The music repertoire hotted up and we had a "great evening".

Specifically went back the following week with a group of friends. The place was half empty - not even half full ! Various groups sitting as far apart from each other as possible. Dave ended many of his numbers early to very mild yet polite applause.

What a "boring place".

MORAL: The Jailhouse, like most fun bars in CVO will vary as will the clientel. Sometimes it clicks and its the best bar in town. Sometimes it just doesn't happen, and we get flames on this forum. When it does happen though, its us the punters who make it really happen. When it doesn't its the same people to blame - usually !
