Leaving U.K. Reg Car at airport.
Leaving U.K. Reg Car at airport.
Are police still booking U.K. registered cars left in the long stay car park at the airport. I usually leave my car at Christmas for 2 weeks. If so I would think there are very few cars parked as most of are foreign registered. Any info? Thanks.

There seemed to be lots of foreign cars there last week but I've now started using the off-airport service Park and Fly who are very good. They even wash the car and check the tyres and that it starts before you collect it.

if you are all legal and nothing to hide , what are you worried about ? if you are not legal you need to be booked and prosecuted !!!! the law is the law !!

The query was the result of a posting some months ago which inferred that is illegal to have a u.k. registered vehicle in Portugal when the owner is out of the country. Can anyone confirm this is a fact?

Hi
It is most certainly the case and the GNR are reportedly going to clamp down on it in a big way. Another concern for UK registered car owners is the new electronic motorway toll arrangements - if you use the A22 you will be caught as the system will identify all foreign cars and will be able to establish if they are here more than 6 months. Best advice is get legal and either matriculate or buy a Portuguese vehicle!!!

I was told on Saturday night at the opening of Rascals Bar, buy a local Officer ( Off Duty ) that they have been told by the powers that be to make note of Foreign registered cars number plates and MOT certificates that keep appering in the area for more then a few weeks.

They have been doing that for over a year...and even checking fiscal numbers as well.ANDY wrote:I was told on Saturday night at the opening of Rascals Bar, buy a local Officer ( Off Duty ) that they have been told by the powers that be to make note of Foreign registered cars number plates and MOT certificates that keep appering in the area for more then a few weeks.
The worst place is the roundabout by the airport.....though they do like the road between Carvoeiro and Intermarche'
By the way....what's the new Rascals like??

It would be a bummer if you had to return quickly because of an emergency.

Rascals is really nice all new inside, nice furniture etc and a nice couple running it, well worth a evening visit
