Best restaurant in Benagil?

Hi, we've never eaten in Benagil before but are planning to, this holiday. We've decided on where we're eating most nights so will probably only have one meal there. All the restaurants seem to get good reviews on this forum so it's difficult to choose between O Algar, Casa Velha do Pescador, O Litoral and Casa Lamy. Price is not much of an issue and we're basically looking for outdoor seating, a nice view and obviously, decent grub. Any suggestions?

I would choose O Litoral and have one of the fish dishes, the plaice or sole with bananas.

O litoral is ok but you are sitting next to a road and car park, the plaice is frozen. Algar is far better, fresh fish and good meats, good value and better sea view from the terrace

We love the Velha Pescador - wonderful view from the back terrace in the daytime and a romantic atmosphere inside in the evening.

Quite agree Canada we had a lovely meal there last week.
Always liked O Littoral as well.

Have been regulars at Pescador since it opened - this year the fish soup was a little disappointing and trying to get a taxi back to cvo was a nightmare but still generally great food and a view to die for.

We also like Velha Pescador and have had some lovely meals there, be aware of the fish priced by the kilo tho' as your bill can be somewhat on the big side if you are not careful!!
We also love Brasserie Marina at the top of the road out of Benagil, good food and a pretty terrace to eat outside.

we've been visiting Benagi for the last 8 years now and i reckon it is home to some of the best restaurants around.

back in June we have brilliant meals at Casa Lamy (our first visit there it exceeded expectations) Brassarie Marinha and O'litoral

O'Algar was a bit disappointing as i got (another) poor portaguese steak..once bitten twice shy, their prawn kebab is excellant though

when it comes to location i think Casa Lamy & O'Algar have the best views.

O'Litoral has the best service (although they sometimes tend to corner you into ordering extra food) always a drink or two on the house afterwards

Brassarie Marinha has a lemon crunch desert that keeps us going back but its that bit pricier than the other restaurants.

so basically i cant answer the question as i really like them all, on our next visit in Oct the first one i want to visit is Casa Lamy...just to see if its as good as our last meal there

Is Casa Lamy the one overlooking Benegil bach up the steps, the one right over the beach on the right?
If so the service is awful. We have tried the place several times for lunch and trying to get a waiter to take an order is a feat it intself.
we have persevered so far because of the amazing view but even we have now given up. another case of not enough staff.

yes that's the one, we've only been once at night time and it was quiet so there was no problem with service.

Thanks for all your suggestions. We decided on O Algar in the end and weren't disappointed. Lovely setting, friendly, professional service and great food. Will give the others a try next time as they all seem to get generally good reviews.

O Literal is a strange place, they're all over you until they get you seated then you're forgotten, they're like rogue car dealers dragging you in off the road, it's thumbs down from me. What's the place on the right going in to Benagil from Cvo, the place just above the beach bar?

i see where you are coming from with O'Litoral, the owner especially is a salesman, i've been there many times and we are always prepared for him trying to encourage/force us to order extra, especially if we only order main courses he's trying to get us to order a small starter. From another comment above someone suggested their plaice is frozen.

was in casa lamy last week, great meal, although they forgot to bring us out a covert which i thought odd as we were the only people in the restuarant.
