At the current exchange rate.....5 Euros per hour is 1.34 Euros per hour HIGHER than the minimim wage in the USA.

so 5 euros is not so bad after all.....

It all comes down to the cost of living,

Skills, and their market value,

Connections,

And how desperate you are.

(social class may also play a part)


The Bottom Line is that the Cleaning Lady is on the Bottom of the Skill Market, and has to price her services accordingly.




Weather and Ambience, aside, the Cost Of Living is a Major factor in chosing another Country to live in......and cheap cleaning is part of the Lower Cost Of Living , if you choose to live there.


Hire the Cleaning Lady at the Going Rate, and Tip her if you think the Going Rate isn't enough compenation for her Labors.

Something to think about after a excelent meal, over good wine, in a fine resturant, with an Ocean View.
