Jailhouse bar
Afternoon everyone,
It's our third visit to CVO this year on 8th September, for 2 weeks and it can't come round quick enough. Last year we found the delights of Jailhouse bar, which was run by the bloke who also did a spot of guitar playing & singing who insisted on calling me Gav (Gavin Henson
). I've forgotten his name unfortunately - just wanted to know if the place is still being run by him?
Come on 8th....

The Jailhouse is a Carvoeiro institution and is a bit like Marmite !
I think it is still open we have certainly seen the owner ( he looks very different in the daylight ) around the village this summer.

Cheers EMM, indeed we found it a great place to chat and drink and listen to a bit of live music. Looks like we'll be paying another several visits again this year then
I'm pretty sure he told us he played with Smokey too, but don't quote me on that.
Wouldn't help me recognise him in the daytime though...

A great place out-of-season, as it gets too popular

How busy will it be in september? Im going to try my best to sample all the bars in carvoeiro lol
Looking foward to the cocktail garden!
Re: Jailhouse bar
If you are going to the Jailhouse, do not dress up in fact do not wear your cleanest clothes.
The building dates from the sixties ( i think ) and that is when it was last given a good clean.
Best enjoyed after a " good dinner " having had a drink or two.

Last time I was over (June), I went to Bistro 72. Great laid back atmosphere and I could watch Wimbledon on the big screen! Nice toasties too....

I'm not sure if Sullys is exempt from the smoking ban of if it is simply ignored. If it is exempt because it has extractor fans, I don't think they are ever turned on!scottishstacey wrote:Cheers for the tip lol. whats sullys like? any other bar reviews would be great
Re: Jailhouse bar
Sullys? According to several ground of young friends who have stayed with me over the past few years it is the place you can purchase and take drugs very easily, is on the radar of the GNER and most locals steer clear of unless they enjoy a bit of an argument every now and then.
Me - I've never entered the place and don't intend to do so - I am sure plenty on here will tell you it is simply splendid.
