Police with Dogs in the centre ??

In 2006, we had a holiday in the Maldives on the island where I was stationed in 1970. Whilst there, I cut my back badly on some coral and was directed to a doctor on the island. He was Indian and worked in a large rehab. centre. Even on a tropical island, drugs are a big problem. This is the place.

We are obviously not the market they are looking for as we have never seen any evidence of dealing or been offered anything.
We spend at least up to 20 weeks in Carvoeiro at various times during the year.
Unlike Albufeira where dealers frequent the strip selling the unwary idiots various concoctions usually looking suspiciously like shoe polish

Offered drugs on two occasions last September - both in the middle of the day just on the corner by the CVO Sol hotel.
Scruffy looking bloke - i felt like decking him because as far as i'm concerned these individuals are vermin, with a capital 'V' - but thought better of it, just in case a few of his 'mates' were lurking or the local GNR might take his side if i tried to explain why!

Haven't seen much evidence at other times in CVO inside bars or similar though

Bristle, the GNR are more concerned about drug dealers than you may think.

Why 'disgust'? How can the presence of a police dog be disgusting? Was it peeing or pooing or humping someone's leg? That might qualify.

Apparently it is the gypsy element that tours the area selling to the younger generation. And yes they do have mates hanging around the area, who have no qualms about knifing any one who "spoils " their business.

Inform the GNR, it's only up the hill from the Sol !!

A young Irish barmaid in Harry's bar told us of an incident which occurred on 24-25/6/11, Restaurant Hill,near the bins. A young lady got run over with a van and her boyfriend got a kicking.Allegedly gypsies from Albufiera brought in to deal with a troublesome customer !!
