easiest way to get to CVO from Faro without a car
easiest way to get to CVO from Faro without a car
Hi
For once I'll be a solo traveller for a few hours as I'm meeting the rest of my group later on in the week. I wondered what might be the cheapest or easiest way to get to CVO, apart from by expensive taxis or a single person shuttle.
A general answer would be fine, based on various times of the day, as probably later on we might all be tempted to check out alternative options when the tolls come in.

It all depends how long you want the journey to take.
Bus from faro airport to Faro bus station, bus to Lagoa ( may involve changes ) bus/taxi to carvoeiro.
Bus from faro airport to train station, train to Tunes/estombar, taxi to CVO.
There really is no alternative to the transfers unless budget does not permit this and you have time ( subject to flight times ) to spend on the alternatives.

Thumb a lift or walk.

I was waiting to see how long before some bright spark said that - not long eh, and very useful.

What did you expect? You made it clear you're too tight to fork out, so if the bus is too dear my options fit your demands perfectly.Graham L wrote:I was waiting to see how long before some bright spark said that - not long eh, and very useful.

Nice one Michael, you wouldn't make a very good dentist, as subtle as a brick.

If you are on your own, try wandering around the arrivals hall where the package tour operators are gathering groups and see if you can bum a lift on one of their transfer coaches. Its rare that the coaches are full to the brim, so its really no skin off their noses, and a ten Euro note to the rep may just be suitable.
Otherwise I've seen rave reviews for Resorthoppa which may or may not go via Albufeira and other resorts.

Thank you EMM and e-Richard for the welcome comments.
Resorthoppa looks good and a good alternative to the taxi.
Their website quotes journey time of 1hr 10mins and price around £24
Very grateful.

After reading your PM I am sorry if you thought my comment 'unsubtle'. I hope it all works out for you.Graham L wrote:I was waiting to see how long before some bright spark said that - not long eh, and very useful.

used the 'express' but to faro airport once and that will be the last time. as above post states you have get to/from lagoa bus station first and then you have to get the bus from faro to the airport. pain.
we also used the train for Lagos and while it does travel into the centre of Lagos, it was still a slow journey. more like a train you would see in a 1930's film. add to that the fact that you would either have to disembark in Estombar (as above post)and taxi, or Portimao and bus. pain.
Resort hoppa is you only man if you are on a budget. usually around €25 return including their Ryanair charge (credit card). and even if your accommodation is private you will still get very close to it. if you are in a bigger block they will leave you at reception.

There are plenty of shuttle companies working out of Faro Airport at cheaper rates than Resorthopper. Do a Google search. You would be on a minbus or coach with other people, but it would get you there, possibly after a couple of stops to let people off at other places (Albufeira for example). I am paying £11 return in September, so I would assume the one-way fare is around £6.

Why don't you post a specific message stating your flight details and see if you can bunk a lift with someone - even if you contribute a few drinks?
You'll be surprised how many on your plane may be going to CVO and some may have space.

That's a good idea - thanks Phil.
When I do hire a car later in the year, I might do that myself, providing there isn't too much luggage from a certain other half!!
