HELP - I'm in shock!!

Post by Lamby »

I cannot believe a conversation I had with my wife Tuesday evening. She is only thinking about going somewhere else for our annual holiday abroad in 2012!!
Funds may not stretch to a villa in CVO again. As a compromise she suggested an appartment with a communual pool. Then after a brief discussion we both agreed we couldn't go on a complex with a shared pool! Snobs I know. Another alternative would be a villa without a pool - not sure about that either. Now I am investigating cheaper destinations than The Algarve!! Shock horror - I hope this is not the last of my relationship with CVO. I've only just fallen in love with her charms!!

There must be someone on here that can give you a price that's within your budget. It'd be a sin to go elsewhere . . . . although I do go to Turkey each summer. 8)

Try Corralejo, Fuerteventura.

We went there in June for a week.

Nice 2 dble bedroom villa on a typical canarian urbanisation, with patio and pool, 2 bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen - £375 for the week. 15 mins walk into corralejo town; 5 minutes from beach. (no, it's not mine and i've never met the owner - we rented thru' Owners Direct).
Excellent supermarkets - prices as in UK, with offers. Good food, esp in the 'old town'.
Large beer normally 3 euros, some bars only 2.50 euros. Smirnoff vodka in bars generally 3 euros, with generous measures.Nice breeze, sometimes windy afternoons that take the top off the temperature.

Don't know where you live Lamby, but Easyjet started flying from Bristol to Fuerteventura last winter on wednesdays and Saturdays - we each paid £75 return for our flights.

Come to think of it, if you're after a value holiday (with sun) it's better value than CVO, but then if you love CVO like us one doesn't mind paying a bit extra - however, there's only far some of us will go before CVO gets too expensive.

We're back in CVO from 3rd Sept for 10 nights - looking forward to it.

Bruce...... you may have just have come up with the solution!! Leave the wife behind!!
Si..... I am familiar with Corralejo. We have been four or five times and although the resort is more built up than when we last went I did like the place. I have also found villas a lot cheaper in Lanzarote (and other places). One villa in particular in Cala Blanca, Lanzarote looks very nice and is £435.00 per week - an equivalent villa in Aries Dos Moinhos for the same period is £715.00 per week!!! A saving of £560.00 over two weeks.
I guess I need to make some cut backs between now and June 2012 if we are to return to CVO. It would be a great shame not to return. Thanks for the comments guys

Carvoeiro fret no more - Lamby will return ha ha !!
Thanks to a very generous fellow forum member me and my party look like we will be back in June 2012. Still need to finalise but it looks good. Plus, Jet 2 flights are released and they are cheaper than Monarch who I usually fly with. Happy day!! Thanks, you know who are. Speak later. :D :D :D

Hi. I'm still here!! Been quiet as I went on my travels in the motorhome. Don't suppose anyone missed me. Flights now also booked for my CVO 2012 trip. Came close to seeking an alternative destination but no, I will be in the beautiful Carvoeiro in June next year. Happy days
