Just back from a really great break. The square and the roads are greatly improved with the bollards allowing much more relaxed walking. Walk down to the centre in the evening and taxi back as usual; 5e well spent. Lovely, brand new VW Polo waiting for us at the airport - thanks G. The signs are all erected along the A22 in readiness for the tolls
As we were without ankle biters for the first time we took the oportunity to do a bit of exploring, looking for an alternative to CVO. Up the west coast to Avonmouth - sorry, Sine and dropped into most of the resorts on the way back. Did the same thing driving east to the Spanish border. Conclusion: There is nowhere better than good old Carve Oh Earo

Floyd, I think you've got it right, it's big enough for everybody but small enough to feel homely. With the lack of lager louts it's almost ideal. All we need is more money to keep up with the prices there !!
