The couple of people that are acting like its a crime for scoge to ask if there is a particular british item in carvoeiro. he should be able to drink/eat whatever he wants

If you read back Stacey, You will see no mention of it being a crime to ask a question and nobody has said he shouldn't be allowed to eat drink what he wants! You seem to be having a "non argument" here! And like FMM you should get off your high horse!

The OP asked a question and he got answers and several opinions and observations. I still stand by my post .If he can't do without real UK ale on holiday he should consider going to an English seaside resort for his holiday. Simples!

We have a real ale pub here in Wroxham that carries 95 different beers and ales, and just around the corner is a chinese chippy.

Wroxham and Broadland could be the holiday destination of choice for those of you that need your good old English brew.

There's even a bookie in case Sam starts to get withdrawal

My wife and i arrive on Sept 3rd for 10 days.

I'm not a lover of Superbock, but like Sagres and the dutch lager that's sold in some places in CVO - can't remember the name. On the food front we tend to eat a variety in CVO, but actually veer towards the Dutch-owned restaurants. The only Portuguese one we frequent is Chef Antonios...and i guess that's more international cuisine really. Oops!
I suppose, in truth, we haven't embraced Portuguese cooking in our 10 years of visits - sad state of affairs - but we're happy!

we come out on the 10th so just miss you we're the same, my bf and his mum are much more likely to try portugese food but im very fussy and boring when it comes to food! Ive promised to make a real effort to try new things this time, im looking foward to trying a few different restaurants. Dave likes sagres and i think he thought superbock was ok if i remember correctly. i dont like beer at all but i love a jug of sangria and somecocktails

Until 3 months ago I would say 'what do Scots know about decent real ale' but my Mc mate took me to a pub which served 4 new scottish beers and guess what they were fab!
So its Scotland for me with my CAMRA bible in my hand.... oh forgot my flights are booked so CVO here I come.

OK I admit it I do drink the local beer - its cold & wet when its hot & sunny and i do like it up to a point. But after a few???

I seem to remember buying some bottles of a dark beer could be a Super Bock type which wasn't bad anyone enlighten me.

And while this subject is still brewing (pun intended) what is everyones favourite? Sagres, Crystal, Super Bock - is there truly a difference that I can't appreciate?
