Sending Foodstuffs from UK to PT

Hi All

Does anyone know what food you can send from UK to PT in a parcel? Was planning on sending some sealed packets of "store cupboard" stuff to save searching for them when we arrive.

Thinking things like Lime leaves, creamed coconut sachets, chili pesto (one I trust the heat of!!)

Do as we do , anthting that you relly think you cannot find in PT providing it is less than a 100ml( grammes ) if a liquid or paste bring in your hand luggage , if more put it in your case.
No problem with dry prepacked items.
But to be honest there is almost nothing now that we cannot find in the large Algarve supermarkets.

We do an online Tesco shop about twice a year for things that we really can't get out here or that are just ridiculously expensive here & Direct Transport bring it out. Imported foods or goods are very expensive here & sometimes the quality of the Portugese equivalent, if there is one, is just not good enough.

We regularly send out the stuff we cant or find difficult get - good tomato and brown sauce, Branston, mango chutney, lime pickle, salad cream, mint sauce, sweet chili, 5 strength coffee, tea bags - we buy the larg catering packs from Makro or Bookers and send them out by DHL or Fedex using one of the cheaopo shipping agents like Interparcel or transglobal express. This time we are sending out a 3 piece cane chair set and cushions, so will use Algarve removals and send lots of stuff out with it.

It is amazing how many cheap ways there are of doing this now!

My other fave is when I am running low on golf stuff - order it through thesportshq.com and there is a one off shipping charge of £15 no matter how much you order!

tend to bring the stuff I cannot get in Portugal out with me like Sensao coffee bags for my Sensao coffee machine we brought out years ago in our suite case and packets of Indonesian and Balinese curry pastes. These are the things that are the norm’ here Holland but I cannot get in Portugal. Normally we would tend to use as much local produce as possible in the supermarkets but there also some things I miss so I tend to bring a few bags and packets of non perishables out with me.
