Sometimes I find it too warm and have to stand under a cold shower to cool down

Re: Isn't the sea warm this year
Even the locals are mentioning how warm the sea is
Its normally to put it bluntly bloody freezing at this time of year. Still here I am like a salty dog after dipping me toe in
Not quite as warm as those crystal blue seas in Swanage but sometimes you have to suffer for the great and the good

Re: Isn't the sea warm this year
Not sure why that would be but its true - about 6 years ago we came back from CVO - I'd been in the sea a couple of times and it was cold enough to freeze your nuts off! (Good job the wife had them safely stored in a jar on the mantlepieceGary/Gaynor wrote:Not quite as warm as those crystal blue seas in Swanage but sometimes you have to suffer for the great and the good![]()

When I was a wee lad only a few years ago
I used to go to a place called West Wittering the sea there was so warm and the sandcastles I built deserved an award

PS HR Swanage Blues early October I can teach you all about sandcastles

p.s. of all the beaches, Benegil seems to have the warmest water (and I've never seen Gary there)

Tricky, Benegil is a lovely beach. It took me 5 years to become an electronic engineer but I can tell you it takes at least twice that to become a qualified beach bum. Its not easy but sometimes you have to bite the bullet and go that extra miletricky wrote:Well Wee notwithstanding. I have swam at Benegil in November and after the intial... ahhh, its lovely.

Forgot to mention this. The sea was fanastic this year. There was a couple of days when we had really good waves and I stayed in for ages. It took me back to me yoof on Gwithian beach in Cornwall c. 1958

Re: Isn't the sea warm this year
I did 2 weeks back and it went hot then cold then hot...the scorching heat didnt help but it certainly wasnt bath temperature, a quick count made sure all were still intact and away we swam!!biffa wrote:Try it now!
Re: Isn't the sea warm this year
The sea was ffffffffffffffreezing on Tuesday, the temperature has dropped dramatically since last week, I nearly had heart failure when I dived in. Still give it 10 minutes of so & some brisk swimming & the hypothermia wears off & then you get all warm & tingly (or is that still the hypothermia?), anyway it's lovely. Just what you need when you've been roasting on the beach for an hour. Going again today so think I might wear my thermal swimming costume.
