I have no problem with the GNR enforcing the rules and regulations. However, given that someone has been murdered in Albufeira - I think it would be a better use of the GNR's time to actually be out looking for the thugs who perpetrated the crime(s). The criminal activity in Albufeira and the Algarve in general, is causing a lot more economic damage to tourism, than the value of a few illegally registered cars.

The problem is that they are not " illegally " registered cars some are un roadworthy, untaxed, no mot and no valid insurance.

Basically the driver is as much as risk to you and the rest of us as those muggers in ALbufeira.

I know this is a bit off topic but found this info on another forum which had been publicised in one of the local papers re the GNR, regarding response times to incidents

Not sure if this is completely correct or not but I was told that the GNR officers are on bonuses for convictions which accounts for the increase in car checks pre-Christmas and also maybe now this airport checking. Far easier to earn money from motorists than catching burglars and muggers eh?
