Ive just seen Debs (beauty therapist) browsing on here and Im seeking help.
Debs,whats a cure for a dry lip?
My bottom is okay, being plump soft and quite moist.but top is dry and bit rough.
Ive tried vaseline but has not made much difference. I was told maybe its because I drink things too hot! :shock:can this be true?
Any advice Debs please?
Funny,we cover ourselves in sun cream to protect our skin and get a tan,but often forget other parts that are more sensitive dont we?

Hello
I always use lip moisturisers and in partiuclar ones with SPF in them
Yes, your dry lip could be because of drinking hot drinks but it could just be due to the climate (or too much kissing???).
There's loads of products for lips. The Body Shop do many different ones which work well. Their Vitamin E Lip Care is good or their Hemp Lip Conditioner if it is very dry. They also do lip butters.
An extremely good product is Beautifying Lip Care by Gatineau which will give you perfect lips but its about £17 for a tiny tube.
Molton Brown do excellent lip products. I could recommend many others too.....
Yes, ask me a beauty related question and I'll go on and on forever
(are you all bored yet?)
And you should wear SPF all over including on your lips even when you aren't sunbathing, unless you are being subjected to this awful UK excuse for a summer.

Dear hopalong and guest, my top one is far from stiff. In fact its very flexible, just a bit dry and sore!
As for too much kissing Debs
now that would be telling
But thanks for your expert advice deb.So what youre saying is, I need intensive moisturising okay?
I use body shop and Ill have alook for one there.I ve never seen lip butters but they sound good to me
Have to get them in tiptop condition for cvos climate next month. When you think about it lips have to do a lot and theyre always exposed, arent they

hot lips!
LIP BALM---Hi everyone- is it hot there? The sun has finally come out in the channel islands so i might get a tan before i get to Carvoeiro!!! Talking about lip balms- Petroleum jelly, parafin and mineral oil are the main ingredients used to make some lip balms. These petroleum based ingredients are derived from crude oil which is used to make petrol and grease and they often need synthetic fragrances to mask their unpleasant odour. The un-natural indredients can MAKE lips dry and sesitive! I use a website for some of my massage oils called Alexander essentials. They supply a lip balm called Un-petroleum SPF18 Natural Lip Balm. It comes in Vanilla, Cherryand Wintermint. There's also a Lip Honey Balm and a Lip Honey Mint Balm , They all contain ingredients such as Beeswax, Honey, Pure Peppermint Oil. Jojoba, Evening Primrose, Royal Jelly and Bee Pollen Extract. As i'm coming over in August, if anyone wants me to bring some out please feel free to email me. Keep cool---see you soon. AprilLIP

All good useful info from Debs and April.
Seems theres plenty of choice
I read somewhere, that sophia Loren always uses pure virgin olive oil on skin/lips so I might give it a go,something thats always in the cupboard!
So April..is vaseline not good for skin? Its too crude?
Though the sun makes us feel good ,its very damaging to skin isnt it?
In fact, a suntan means damaged/aging skin.
But I dont fancy being the only lilywhite skinned person on the beach
I tried to buy cocoa butter cream for my body yesterday but couldnt get it anywhere-d'you know why Debs?
Caribbean friend of mine recommended it for dry skin!

you should ask debs about cocoa butter and shea butter. The body shop do a range of body butters and they smell divine- i wonder if they attract flies though????!!!!! Yes olive oil is fantastic for your skin--its living! So anything that is cold pressed- not chemically extracted- is going to be good- think natural.

PS. we all know the sad fact about sunbathing but who wants to be the whitest corpse in the cemetary!! Although the health magazines , well every magazine, tells you to fake it! But who wants to sit in the house and apply fake tan when the sun is splitting the stones outside. Mind since my sister Rachel moved out there full time she says she doesnt sunbathe as much coz she knows the sun is always gonna be there!

The best thing you can do for your skin is keep it moisturised and make sure you put some SPF on it, including your lips.
I don't sunbathe but I still go out in the sun. I do love the sun I just don't want to be wrinkly! I use a fake tan that you just spritz all over (its just like a bottle of water) and then leave it to dry - it takes seconds. That's it!
As for the cocoa body butter The Body Shop do it, I have a good supply here as I sell it from the catalogue to anyone who wants it! I have some shea butter, cocoa, honey, papaya and brazil nut (and probably many others but can't think off the top of my head). We did have an olive body butter, not sure if we still do it and don't think I've got any either
.
The big tubs (200g I think) usually retail at £10. They are great though and also make a good aftersun (providing you aren't burnt).
April - I like Alexander Essentials too. Great products. I love trying new products and brands though. I have bottles and jars of all sorts everywhere, all in the name of research for work of course !
