Re: monte dourado
I spoke to my boyfriend last night about the apartment being so steep, he said well we will have the car and if she doesnt like walking it then she can stay at home! Not very sympathetic..
The one thing i was thinking about was where do we park our car if the apartment or complex doesnt have parking, especially if we find a apartment right in town, i had one or two member email me offering their apartment but i cant seem to see anything about parking. and from what i can remember of visiting carvoeiro last time it was very hard to park anywhere on the street!

Re: monte dourado
Ive often stayed here Stacey....on the road leading up to the beach, so lower down..very easy to walk and you can be on the beach in 10 minutes
Why not try there?
No Mossies whatsoever..thank the Lord but I eat marmite toast to keep them away..apparently it stays on the skin!

There is plenty of parking in Monte Dourado and just this week there is another car park and extra parking on Monte Dourado hill

Ellie do you mean monte dourado in general or do u mean the dalia apartment? we're going to make sure his mum is definitely coming before we book anything, we thought the dalia apartment was lovely and most times we would be driving unless me and dave were going out so suppose we could use taxis too!
Re: monte dourado
Lower Monte Dourado is the best bet for older people who struggle with hills same quality of appartments and the pool at the back is an absolute sun trap.

Depends on where fromscottishstacey wrote:how long would it take for a fairly fit person to walk to monte carvoeiro??
I'd say From MC to the square is 8-9 minutes.
From the square to your favourite bar is 3 minutes
From your favourite bar to Monte Carvoeiro is between 15 and 28 minutes

As an experienced wrinkly I say don't do it. the hill is a killer and so is the alternative past the market from restaurant hill, you'll be sorry if you do, but not as sorry as your 60 year old companion.

Re: monte dourado
Pato do you mean monte dourado or monte carvoeiro? or both.. lol i spoke to my mother in law last night and explained its up a hill, she didnt seem to mind, shes realises that most places are on a hill. As long as it doesnt take a very long time to walk up to monte carvoeiro ( half an hour etc) then everything should be fine. My partner wants to be up a hill with a nice view so itl suit him, id stay anywhere as long as it was sunny lol

This, of course refers to Monte Dourado, and I'd disagree.pato wrote:As an experienced wrinkly I say don't do it. the hill is a killer and so is the alternative past the market from restaurant hill, you'll be sorry if you do, but not as sorry as your 60 year old companion.
When I was 60, I would walk up the longer very steep hill past Monte Dourado reception to the tennis courts where I'd then play 3 sets of tennis and walk back down to town for a few beers afterwards.
We're not all decrepit when we reach 60
