Kart track
I've been looking on Google Earth for the Kart track, outside town, is it my memory of the area or has it made room for development ?
I was pretty sure it is/was near the supermarket.

Re: Kart track
The Autodromo has an extensive Kart track with quite reasonable prices.

Hi, snowy. So it's still there, must have been further out than I thought !! It is six years since last visit and a lot can change in that time.
Re: Kart track
There is also one near Almancil.

I can't actually think of a cart track you might be referring to, the nearest one for years was as EMM says, just outside Almancil;
the Kart track at the Autodrome is quite new, probably inside the last 3 years? it's terriffic
it's next to the new racing circuit, West along the motorway, turn off for Mexliora Grande, there's a orange Autodromo sign, all the way along the dual carriageway and you come straight to it

Re: Kart track
There is an unfinnisehed kart track between Lagoa and salicos you can see the spot lights from the back road Lagoato Benagil, a Lagoa business man built it about 10 years ago but couldnt finnish it completly (90% complted) due to the camara not giving the final ok, so its just sitting there over grown and neglected, plus the family werent interested when the business man past away. Big shame

Re: Kart track
Thanks to all for the information.
Sunman, what a circuit !! It's a wonder Mr Ecclestone hasn't waded in for the F1 caravan, it makes Estoril look shoddy.

Re: Kart track
Every year there are rumours that F1 will return to Portugal and only a few weeks ago I was told that it would only be a few years and it will happen.
As Portugal is broke I cannot see where the sponsorship will come from .
When it happens I am sure we will all discover old and new friends we did not know we have.

Re: Kart track
It is my understanding that the circuit was built with full FIA approval, with a view to becoming a future Grand Prix circuit, and it always receives great reviews from the drivers and riders.
It has hosted World Superbikes for the last two years, but despite what was written in the press, I would be surprised if there were 10,000 people there.
There are two problems though; it doesn't have the infrastructure to host a GP, and Portugal is currently not able to line the Ecclestone coffers sufficiently, hence his predilection for the Middle and Far East

Re: Kart track
Everything comes to those who wait.
It's a bit out of the way. No rail connection and it seems a one way trip for a bus, but the circuit certainly has the look of a great venue.
Good luck for the future Autodromo !!
