Thanks Biffa, that newsletter was great reading, the pictures made you feel you were there. Must have been a great atmosphere. Can't wait for the winter when we will help to keep the visitor numbers up!

speaking of numbers being down...read holiday article in a daily last week..where it showed a map of more& more folk choosing to holiday & buy hol homes in the old eastern block countries..place like former Yugoslavia...Albania...Russias Black sea area...and more going to Turkey..they all have sun and much much lower prices,lovely second home cottages for as little as £10-12,000..and Iberia is losing out....
but of course...although Id ,love to visit some of these places...

Hi Biffa, great newsletter, really enjoyed reading it even though I don't like football.
It is a shame that the community lost out with the lack of tourists for that time, but as most of the airlines and car hire companies nearly tripled the cost of flying and renting, it is not suprising.
Lets hope life can now get back to normal and that the restaurants and hotels pick up the business over the next couple of months.
Mind you, like Ellie, if you look at the holiday programmes and the 'place in the sun' type programmes on the tv Croatia, Bulgaria and Eastern Europe are really being plugged as the 'new' holiday destination. One couple bought a lovely ruined farm with 12 acres of land in a very pretty spot for £2,500 !!!
I love the Algarve and it won't make me change my mind, but for those still thinking of buying property it just might make the difference.
