Getting rid of old dishwasher/cooker?

Post by carolyn »

We need to dispose of an old cooker and dishwasher when we are out next week. We often leave smaller items at the rubbish bins near VDM Restaurant (where they invariably get "recycled"!), but don't know if this would work with such large items? Also I remember reading on the forum ages ago that there was somewhere that you could take stuff near the Fatacil, but cant now find where I read that. Any suggestions appreciated.

people still leave things next to the lixo bins, mostly people in vans will come round & take your things within half an hour, somebody will make use of them :)

When you buy new appliances the supplier will normally take your old ones away.

Unfortunately that did not happen when our new items were delivered, which is why we are stuck with the old ones!

It normally works with larger items, we've seen sofa's, baths, fridges, whole stripped out kitchens & all sorts left by the bins. In our area they have a designated day in the month for collecting larger items, I don't know what that day is but when I see the locals start putting out larger items then that's when we do.

Yes I was aware of the designated day for collection of large items - there used to be a timetable about it on the main CVO website.
Any ideas where to find this info? Have just looked on the 'Lagoa Camara' website but cant find it there.
