Phone Line & Internet

Post by Mintyspud »

Hi
Can anyone offer the latest advice on getting internet into our property in CVO? We don't have a phone line at this stage but would like cheap internet access for a PS3 etc

Thanks in advance

@Ello - depends how much you are going to use the things - a regular monthly internet - PT telecom, cabo, TMN etc is quite expensive especially for the connection charge. The Internet only (if u can get it!) is currently running at around €20 but a package is 39.99/mth, and there is a limit on speed and amount of download - but you will have to check - best place is at algarve shopping centre.

Two years ago I checked it all out and came to the conclusion that the pay as go mobile dongle was the best - works out at €10 for 600 mins, and you only pay for what you use - ie what you download - if it's on and you are not using it - eg whilst typing and e mail, it doesn't cost. I normally spend €10 for 2+ weeks using about 1 hr a day on the internet.

Hi Dongles do not produce a quick enough download speed for PS3 or xbox´s you will need a land line.
I would check out cabovisao.pt, we have just had installed 20mg unlimited free phone, free local calls no line charge plus 40 tv channels for 35.00 per month

Andy, is that the same as MEO? a guy knocked on our door waving a PT badge but his brochure was MEO; sounds the same thing as you have installed; is it good?

I will pm you contact details tomorrow when back in office, and yes you can keep your old sapo address as I did.
I must say iam saving 20 Euros a month since I changed from my Pt land line and sapo internet, what I thought was fast till I swapped to cabovisao.pt

For occaisonal use . then Pay as you go dongle is the most convenient and cheapest.
But if you have cable the Cabo Visao provides one of the best packages.

That's easy. Tap into next door's unsecure router. :)

Thanks
