those who read the thread about opening a branch office might be interested to see this weeks "News" that reports that a survey has just been completed that says that portuguese companies are the worst payers in europe

Just try getting dosh out of English companies, the larger they are, the worse they are. I've got one customer who didn't pay until the end of their financial year, 6 months after invoice. Then there's the Americans who've owed me money for over a year now and can't understand why I'm not making updates to their software they asked for.
I don't think it matters where the company is from.
