Steen, what you offer on here and the spirit in which you offer it are highly appreciated, thank you. There's clearly a lot of hard work that goes on behind the scenes so thanks for all that too.

your comment is very well put, for my own part I've been coming to and now living in Carvoeiro for 27 years, it's very dear to my heart; when we first came we had to stop the taxi in Lagoa to get some milk and bread and then drive to what was then Modelo in Portimao to do a big shop for our stay. We queued up to get our Escudo's in the bank on the front of the square, walked up the out road a bit to buy a 2 day old newspaper and sometimes drove 1 1/2 hours on the N125 to Penina for a round of golf, the traffic to Portimao was horrendous. Our favourite 'first go to meal' was 'Old' Antonio's (now Lanterna) for some flambee prawns cooked by Antonio before he had his lottery wins & opened his own restaurant across the road. All roads from town to VdM were dust, no tarmac, going to Marinha beach was like going on safari; the butcher's (which is now Happy's) used to sell lovely things to put on the barbecue, fresh rolls were sold by a little old lady through a window on the in road. We had to drive to Armacao for a chinky, curry was unheard of.

so much has changed, a motorway from Faro!, a massive choice of golf in easy driving distance, big local supermarkets, daily printed papers, dozens of new reataurants & bars, tarmac roads, water parks, internet, Sky TV,

and yet when I walk onto the beach in the centre of town & look up at the cliffs on both sides it still looks, feels and smells (I love the Algarve 'dust' smell you get when you get off the plane) the same; Carvoeiro is still a lovely place to visit and to be, we love being part of it; thanks to all on here who work to make living here and visiting here a great experience.
