Until when? Will it end on the 28th, meaning that flights on that day will be affected, or will it have ended by then and flights on the 28th will be OK? I don't mind staying a few more days in the village but Sharen, poor dear, has to be at work 29-31.

last I saw there are 2 strikes planned;

9pm 22nd - 3am 24th

then

9pm 24th - 3am 29th

effectively the 23rd & 28th will be wiped out

Fingers crossed the second one (if not both of them) is called off. I know I am being selfish, but Sharen really has to be back at work on the Wednesday, a lot of quite poorly people will be depending upon her.

Monarch has been advised that industrial action involving its ground handling agent will take place in Faro on Thursday 23 and Wednesday 29 December 2010.

As a result of the industrial action, no ground handling services will be provided in Faro and Monarch flights will operate to/from Seville (Spain), with coach transportation to/from Faro Airport (approx 3 hours).

The following Monarch flights from the UK will be affected on Thursday 23 December

ZB214 Gatwick - Faro dep 07.00/arr 09.35
ZB402 Birmingham - Faro dep 07.15/arr 10.05
ZB580 Manchester - Faro dep 07.40/arr 10.40

Passengers booked to travel on the above flights are advised to check-in as normal for their flights from their UK departure airport. On arrival in Seville onward coach transport will be provided to Faro Airport.

The following Monarch flights from Faro will be affected on Thursday 23 December
ZB215 Faro - Gatwick dep 10.35/arr 13.30
ZB403 Faro - Birmingham dep 11.05/arr 13.55
ZB581 Faro - Manchester dep 11.40/arr 14.30

We are due to fly TAP to copenhagen via lisbon.

All we can find out is a message to contact the airport on the day of departure.

There appears to be little if any pre planning taking place, it could all be last minute brinkmanship but it looks like the holiday plans ( and return flights ) of a few thousand visitors to the Algarve are at risk.

Monarch has been advised that planned industrial action in Faro scheduled for Thursday 23 December has been cancelled. ALL Monarch flights operating to/from Faro on this date will now operate into Faro as per their published schedule and customers are requested to check-in as normal for flights.

At this time, industrial action is still planned to take place in Faro on Wednesday 29 December.
