Strike at Faro Airport 22-28Dec
Strike at Faro Airport 22-28Dec
I have read that " GroundForce " one of the handling companies at Faro has given notice of a 6 day strike over the Christmas period .
Groundforce is closing its Faro operation resulting in large numbers of job losses.
Obviously this is bound to affect travel, does anyone else have any more information.

Interesting. I'm coming back on the 24th! Or not as the case may be.

We return on the 28th.
Re: Strike at Faro Airport 22-28Dec
We go on 23rd with EJ out of Robin Hood. EJ use Portway as handing agent at Faro so hopefully should be ok. ANA website gives details of the different handling agents for all airlines using Faro.

There is an announcement ( in Portuguese ) on Expats Portugal.

Thanks - I did find something eventually and it looks like is is a) a proposal and b) not full on for six days - indeed the 26th looks to be unaffected by the plans so keeping everything crossed.

I hope Michael and I won't have to spend even more days in the Algarve. How awful.
btw, he is chomping at the bit wanting to get on and have his say. Poor dear, if only Steen could see him, sat there all dejected and sad.

Dave, keep us informed of your progress. Text or email.
Re: Strike at Faro Airport 22-28Dec
Helen. Yes, good luck to us all given that we now have the UK weather problems on top of industrial action at Faro. Looking at our local forecast up to 23rd it would appear that we are not due any more snow. Robin Hood is not that far from us so I do not foresee problems with the departure. The Portway action at Faro seems to be taking place on 28th to 30th so again, hopefully, our flight should not be affected. Having said that with the Portuguese unions all could change by then
Michael - will do.
